Want to retain the political tradition of Sylhet: Foreign Minister

Despite being the nominated candidate of Jatiya Party in Sylhet-1 seat, Foreign Minister Dr. Nazrul Islam Babul, convenor of Mahanagar Japa, withdrew from the election paying respect to AK Abdul Momen.

To express gratitude and thanks for the sacrifice of Japa leader Nazrul Islam Babul, on Wednesday (December 16) afternoon, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen. The foreign minister thanked and thanked him at this time.

Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said - I have no personal relationship with this man (Babul). There was no discussion with him about the election. But for me he is not contesting Sylhet-1 seat ignoring the party decision. So I felt that it is necessary to meet him once and thank him.

Foreign Minister said, Sylhet has a political tradition. We never disrespect different groups here. I want to hold it. We may have different ideologies but we belong to the same city.

The foreign minister also said that he (Babul) got about 60,000 votes against the candidate for the position of mayor in the recently held CSIC elections. That is no small matter. He could fight against me in Sylhet-1 seat if he wanted. But stood aside for me. His self-sacrifice is a unique example of the harmony politics of Sylhet.

At that time Jatiya Party leader Nazrul Islam Babul said - Foreign Minister's family is an elite family. His brother former finance minister late Abul Mal Abdul Muhith did a lot for the development of Sylhet. He is also making outstanding contribution for Sylhet. In this situation, I did not think it appropriate for me to contest against the Foreign Minister in Sylhet-1 seat. So, ignoring the party decision, I withdrew from the election. I don't care if the party expels me. Because I don't do politics for the sake of office.
